Ready to file? Returns are filed with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, never through this site.Log in to Online Services →Opens ols.tax.ny.gov, the Department's Tax Online Services Portal — the shortest route to Sales Tax Web File, which is otherwise several clicks deep. Every New York sales and use tax deadline that falls in 2027, with the form each period goes on. Worked out from the statutory rules and the federal holiday calendar, not copied from anywhere.

New York’s year does not start in January.

The sales tax year runs 1 March to the end of February, so the quarters are March–May, June–August, September–November and December–February. They are not calendar quarters, and a return is due 20 days after the period ends, rolled to the next business day when that lands at a weekend or on a holiday.

Part-quarterly (monthly) filers in 2027

Taxable receipts of $300,000 or more in a quarter. The first two months of each quarter go on Form ST-809; the third goes on Form ST-810, which doubles as the quarterly return. Reaching for the ST-809 in that third month is the commonest mistake on this schedule.

Already late?

The late penalty calculator works out what a missed deadline costs — the penalty that grows 1% a month to a 30% ceiling, interest at 14.5% compounded daily, and the vendor collection credit you forfeit.
